The owner of a Botox clinic in Northern Ireland that also offers liquid facelifts and vampire facials was fined more than £4,000 for illegally marketing the services.
On Thursday, Belfast Magistrates Court convicted Nicholas Watkins (51) from Forthaven, Ballyclare, Co. Antrim, of infringing human medicine regulations.
It was revealed in court that the illicit activity was discovered in December 2022. While visiting the MAC Aesthetics facility on Ballyclare Road in Glengormley, the Department of Health’s Medicines Regulatory Group (MRG) conducted an inspection.
Law enforcement agents discovered additional evidence of illicit advertising to offer prescription medicines after seizing a significant amount of medicines.
Watkins is the clinic’s primary practitioner, where they provide services like calf reduction and non-invasive rhinoplasty.
The procedures are performed “complying with all health and safety and environmental health standards and receiving approval from the local council,” the clinic’s website said.
The “Hangover IV Drip” costs £100 and is one of the IV treatments available.
The “Snow White IV Drip” is £95, whereas the “Rapunzel IV Drip” is only £89.
Non-surgical facelifts cost $599, intramuscular injections range from £25 to $200, and a bumlift costs $299.
The website brags that the clinic was runner-up at the Northern Ireland Hair and Beauty Awards for “Highly Suggested Cosmetic Clinic of the Year.”
Peter Moore, a senior medicine enforcement officer, conducted the probe into Watkins.
It delivers a “message that there are severe repercussions for those who attempt to bypass the regulated system.” In light of the revelation, he explained that the fine was instituted to guarantee the public’s safety and a steady supply of drugs.
Furthermore, he said, “The use of unapproved weight-loss injections is of particular concern to MRG.”
The MRG director has issued a public safety warning about the risks associated with the unauthorized use and distribution of non-invasive cosmetic medicines.
He went on to warn about falling for fake websites or social media profiles that provide drugs without a prescription.

He continued, “If I didn’t think it was credible, I wouldn’t have had anything to do with it.”
