10 Surprising Ways Botox Can Make You Look And Feel Better

Not that long ago, people who used Botox didn’t talk about it. Now, Botox usage is an open secret. In fact, some people gladly discuss the miracles that injectables have done for them.

And today, Botox isn’t just for crow’s feet and furrowed brows. It’s for a variety of medical and cosmetic uses, including these:
botox model after treatment

  1. Dealing with acne. Botox can reduce oil production and therefore reduce breakouts. Small amounts of the product used in just the right places can do the trick. When used alongside other acne treatments, Botox is especially effective.
  1. Doing temporary facelifts. The same product that gets rid of fine lines around the eyes can shape a jawline, lift the tip of a nose and reduce forehead wrinkles for up to 3 months, providing the refreshed look previously available only from an expensive and painful facelift.
  1. Mimicking a nose job. Did you know that noses sag with age? When your nose droops, it can make your entire face look older. Botox can lift the nose and rejuvenate the face in about 10 minutes when injected at the base of the nose between the nostrils. This releases the depressor muscle that brings the nose down, making the face look younger.
  1. Softening up a harsh, wide chin and jawline. Botox can be used to shrink muscles that have widened with age and from teeth grinding to make you look younger than you thought possible. Results can last more than a year and make cheeks look lifted. This also helps reduce soreness and pain that comes from teeth grinding and clenching.
  1. Tightening up those saggy jowls. When a jawline is less defined than when you were young, some carefully placed Botox injections can lift the skin back into a youthful position, making you look indefinably crisper and sharper – that is, younger. When you look younger but people can’t tell what you’ve had done, that’s a winning situation.
  1. Raising drooping lips. While many people turn to dermal fillers for plump lips, that’s not the only way to make lips fuller. Tiny amounts of Botox injected along the border of the upper lip can cause it to roll up and out, creating the illusion of additional fullness. The outcome is more subtle than filler and is considerably less expensive since only a little of the Botox product is used.
  1. Smoothing out an aging neck. Small amounts of Botox injected just above and below the horizontal lines on the neck can cause them to temporarily ease, adding youthfulness. The skin looks smoother and therefore less impacted by age. Plus, tight neck muscles can pull down the face, causing drooping and sagging, something no one wants.
  1. Reducing migraine headaches. No one looks good when the don’t feel good, and Botox has made a real difference in migraine headaches for some people. The theory is that Botox blocks pain signals and relaxes muscles so that the head is not as sensitive to pain as it is normally. Injections can be done in the temples, scalp, forehead and elsewhere. And there are fewer downsides than with some migraine medicines.
  1. Blocking excessive sweating. No one looks good when they’re sweating either, and Botox can be used under the arm and in other locations to turn off selected sweat gland nerves. The palms of the hands can also be treated with Botox for excessive sweating. Results are quick and significant in many cases.
  1. Making hairstyles last longer. When Botox for sweating is used around the forehead area, a hairstyle can last longer because it’s less impacted by sweat and oils. Too much Botox on the forehead, however, can result in a drooping brow or eyelids, so care is necessary not to overdo it.

Sexual therapy and Botox

sexual healthFor many people, the absolute last thing that they would want anywhere near them would be a needle. It can be difficult when you need to have blood tests, and it means that donating blood is completely out of the question – but for some people, a needle may just be the answer that they are looking for. Developing research into sexual therapy has discovered that both men and women who have particular sexual difficulties could actually benefit dramatically from Botox injections. This may feel against all instincts, especially if you know that Botox is actually one of the most dangerous chemicals in the world, but that cannot change the fact that there are two areas, one masculine and one feminine, that could be greatly changed by a few Botox injections. Many people who struggle with these difficulties are often at their wit’s ends, and willing to try anything. So how can Botox aid with sexual therapy?

Firstly, you need to understand exactly what it is that Botox does. When found naturally, it is one of the strongest and most dangerous poisons that we have ever come across, and so naturally when it was first suggested that Botox could be used within the medical field, there was understandably some concerns. However, Botox usage has progressed from open heart surgery to cosmetic surgery to migraine control, and there are still many other ways that scientists and doctors believe that it can help. Just because something appears to be poisonous, that does not mean that we cannot learn to use it for our own ends in order to help our patients.

So what sexual difficulties can Botox help to treat? Well, for men Botox is currently being tested as a potential treatment for premature ejaculation. This is a condition which affects almost all men at one point or another in their lives, but though for some it is just a one off experience, for others it can become standard for all of their sexual encounters. The treatment that is being researched at the moment will involve having a Botox injection directly into the penis. This is certainly not a treatment option for the faint hearted, and there are concerns over how often and how regularly this would need to be carried out on the patient in order for this treatment to be effective – however, it is showing promising signs in trials, and only time will tell whether or not this becomes an FDA approved method of treatment.

Another aspect of Botox that is still going through FDA approval is treatment for painful sex for women, also known as vaginismus. This is a condition that we really do not understand completely; in some cases we do not even know what causes it. What happens is that the vagina and/or pelvic floor of the patient contracts uncontrollably, causing huge amounts of pain for her and making it impossible to experience normal vaginal intercourse. By administering Botox injections in the pelvic floor, it is possible to reduce and even stop completely these contractions, so that the patient can be relaxed and comfortable at all times, enjoying a normal sexual experience without any pain. Although this treatment idea is still going through the FDA’s approval process, many women have reported positive effects of the injections, and it is believed that treatment may only need to take place every few years in order to be effective.

Botox injections aren’t just for wrinkles!

We all know that Botox can be used to reduce the appearance of wrinkles, to make fine lines disappear completely, and to make a person look younger – but did you know that there are plenty of other ways that Botox can improve your skin and make your face look even younger? This is the less well known side of Botox, but it is gaining popularity with every day that passes because of its easy to administer and quick results way of changing the way that a person looks. Why not read on below and discover all of the different ways that Botox could help you?

acne before and after botoxBelieve it or not, very small Botox injections in the face could actually prevent people from developing acne at all, or reduce it if this is something that you already struggle with. The way that it works is by slowing down or eventually stopping the oil production of your skin, stopping breakouts from happening in the first place. Just don’t have it all over your face, or you won’t be able to move!

Cleft lip scars for babies

Injecting Botox into the lips immediately after the restorative operation can relax the muscle and nerves, meaning that there is less scarring when it heals. This is something that is very new and is still being tested out in many areas, but the results have been truly startling, and it is believed that we could soon see a generation grow up without any discernible signs that they every had a cleft lip at all in the first place.

Pretend nose job

If you don’t like the way that your nose looks then you are not alone; several thousand people every year decide to have a nose job, but it can be a pretty lengthy recovery time, and it does not suit everyone. Instead, try out a Botox nose job. It lifts and tightens the entire nose, mimicking the effects of a nose job almost completely, and it will be done in just a few hours! You will have to have the same injection every year or so, but it will still probably end up being cheaper too.

Give you Jenner lips

If this is your style, then it can be achieved without having to go through getting lip fillers or anything far more serious. Just tiny little injections of Botox all of the way along your upper lip will roll it out and relax it slightly, so it will look larger. Just don’t go overboard, or you’ll find yourself struggling to talk, eat, and prevent yourself from drooling – so not attractive! You can also change your mind after a few months because the Botox will have worn off by then.

Prevent excess sweating

There are some people who just get really nervous, and they seem completely unable to control their sweating – and that is exactly right. Uncontrolled sweating is a problem with your glands, and Botox can help disrupt the almost continuous ‘sweat!’ signal to the brain so that the glands do not sweat so much. This can be an absolute life saver for someone who has prevented themselves from going out, getting a job, or meeting someone because they are too embarrassed about their sweating.

Who knew that Botox could do so much! It is astonishing really just how much something that is actually poison can do to benefit our bodies! Medical conditions Botox may end up treating

Botox. It is a cosmetic procedure that many people, men and women, choose to have in order to smooth out some lines, make some wrinkles disappear, and give them that youthful appearance that they love so much – and miss from thirty or forty years ago. And that used to be all that Botox was, but that has completely changed in the last ten years. Research groups from all over the world have started to look into whether or not Botox could actually be the missing ingredient to a whole load of different treatment options, and there are several that are currently going through clinic trials at the moment, with the hope that soon they will be a standard treatment option for anyone to accept in order to get help.

The trouble is, there are concerns in many areas that giving FDA approval to what is essentially a poison could end up proving problematic in the long term. We have no idea what long term effects a body will undergo if you continue to put tiny amounts of poison in it, and this is something that is very likely for anyone with a chronic condition that could be treated with Botox. But on the other hand, there is no other way to discover exactly what could happen with trying, and many scientists argue that we will all be convinced by the evidence before long. So exactly what kind of medical conditions could be treated with Botox as standard in the coming decades?

depressed patientA recent trial discovered that when one group with depression was given Botox in their faces and one group with depression was given a placebo injection, there was a drop in depressive symptoms for 15% of the group that received the placebo . . . and 52% of the group that actually received the Botox injection. These are big numbers, and if they can be replicated in other studies, may provide a treatment option for those with depression that is not dependent on pill usage, something that many would prefer.

Premature ejaculation

As counter-intuitive as this may sound, one company called Allergan are testing this by injecting Botox directly into the patient’s penis, and seeing whether it relaxes it so that delays ejaculation significantly enough to be causal. Results are still being waiting for, but if it does provide a solution there is already much discussion on exactly how a patient would be able to self-administer this – or if they could.

Abnormal heartbeat

Botox has been used within heart operations since its very beginning; in fact, that was the first use of Botox within the medical field all those years ago. Now it is being further developed to see whether or not it could treat an abnormal heartbeat that develops during open heart surgery, something that is hard to focus on usually when you are in the middle of a rather serious operation. It will become known, if passed, as post-operative atrial fibrillation, and could end up saving many lives.

Hundreds of thousands of people’s lives could be changed by having Botox injections, and changed for the better; with less pain, less discomfort, and more able to go back to how their lives used to be. If you want to support people in their journey to recovery through Botox injections, then why not train as a Botox administrator? Our specialized Botox administration course enables anyone with a medical background to gain the skills they need quickly, so you can be practicing and helping your patients before you know it.

How Botox is making a difference for those with chronic migraines

migraine patientIf you asked the average person on the street what Botox did, the chances are that they would give you one answer, and one answer repeatedly; it smooths out wrinkles and makes the patient look younger. And this is correct. Botox does have the ability to relax certain muscles in the facial area that will give a much more pronounced youthful look, and for many people they would consider this to be the only use of Botox that they would see – but that is just not true. There are seemingly more and more uses for Botox in a medical setting every single year, as more research throws up more understanding of exactly how we can use the chemical, and that means that in the last few years, Botox is starting to be used for these other reasons for more often than the traditional cosmetic surgery route. So what exactly are they?

Well, one of the most popular medical uses of Botox is to treat migraines. These chronic headaches can last for days, if not weeks, and can affect people’s vision and balance, making it almost impossible for them to do anything while they have the migraine. Some people are unable to drive during a migraine, and the pain can be absolutely unbearable, preventing them from being able to listen to anything or even be in the light. For some people, this can be a monthly or even weekly occurrence, and this is described as chronic migraines, something that has almost no treatment options available. Until now. It has been discovered that Botox injections in certain places around the head and neck can actually change the pressure points within a patient, and this can lead them to stop having chronic migraines, a truly miraculous change for someone whose life has been ruled by them.

Of course, there are some within the medical community who are not entirely convinced by the efficacy of Botox injections for chronic migraines, and they point to the placebo effect, an acknowledged part of medicine that can make it very difficult to prove whether a treatment is actually working, or whether the patient is just so convinced that it is working that their mind tricks their body into thinking that it is getting better again. Those who do not believe that Botox could have such a positive effect on the body base this on their understanding of the chemical itself; one of the most potent poisons that has ever been discovered on this planet, they find it difficult to accept that something so deadly can actually have such a positive impact on a person’s health.

But if you speak to the patients who receive Botox injections for their chronic migraines, what do they think? Well, many of them do not seem to care whether it is the Botox itself or their own minds that are doing the healing – they are just glad to be able to return to their normal lives of going to work, picking up the kids from school, and simply not have to worry about a sudden rush of nausea telling them that a migraine is coming on. They just trust that the Botox isn’t doing them any harm, and that is enough for them. Why question what is already working?
