The trial of two French sisters who allegedly scarred 600 patients by injecting them with contaminated botox will take place in northern France and Paris.

Twenty-six different people have filed legal complaints against the unnamed sisters, ages 22 and 26, and their trial is set to begin on Thursday in Valenciennes, northern France.

One 32-year-old client of the sisters’ “clinic” reported that her top lip had ballooned to the neighborhood paper La Voix du Nord after receiving two injections there.

She had reached out to them after seeing an ad for their services on social media and had scheduled an appointment after checking what appeared to be overwhelmingly positive reviews with images.

She remarked, “They truly had a beautician’s profile and came over quite well.”

The initial injection had no negative effects.

But after the second injection, things began to go wrong.

The unidentified complainant from Dunkirk claimed, “They advised me to have injections in the cheekbones, lips, and chin for €760.”

“My lip swelled up a lot the next day. It’s true that the higher one is larger than the lower one, but that doesn’t make it any better. Even after covering them up with makeup, the redness at the injection sites is still visible”, she noted.

She claimed that she underwent blood tests while on sick leave “because of the risk of illness.”

Search and seizure by police

A digital crime team in Lille conducted a social media search for “botox injections,” which led them to the illegal botox business.

“As our investigations developed, we crossed the data and homed in on these two people,” officers told La Voix du Nord.

After a police raid, officers found 100 syringes, vials of "foreign" hyaluronic acid, and Botox inside the "clinic."

A hundred syringes, vials of “foreign” hyaluronic acid, and botox were discovered during a police raid on their “clinic.”

Police conducted raids on their homes and seized a total of €14,000 (£11,933) in cash, two luxury vehicles, and other high-priced goods. Further testing revealed that some of the botox had expired or carried bacteria at dangerous levels.

Until the middle of July, when the oldest sister was remanded in custody, the sisters continued their practice despite the investigation.

She told the judges that she understood the seriousness of the accusations against her and that she would not “start again,” but they still denied her bail.

There are a total of seventeen allegations against the couple, including fraud, illegal medical practice, endangerment of others’ lives, and involuntary causing of injury.
